Painted Paper Collage Pattern Process | What's On My Palette

This week in the studio, I kept my focus on ONE project. Yay me. Honestly, that’s an achievement in itself sometimes for us neurodivergent folks.

With summer approaching, mamahood has been feeling extra full lately. Faster, louder, a little more demanding… so my studio practice has needed to balance that by asking less of me. Fewer decisions. Less overthinking. Just… make.

Weekly Glimmers | A Week In Pictures: Apr 20 - 26

I hope y’all had a good weekend! Mine was a blur with Luke working overtime and Sunday being a travel day, but last week was a good one too! Here’s a bit of what it looked like:

✨Weekly Glimmers is a photo series about noticing small moments of creativity, nervous system safety, and meaning while healing, parenting, and building a sustainable creative life.

Plan With Me | Week of Apr 27 - May 2

New week, fresh plan. This weekend was a bit of a blur, so it feels especially good to sit down and map out a simple weekly plan for the days ahead.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve come to love a good Sunday reset. This little weekly planning routine has become something I actually look forward to.

It’s a simple way to organize my week, clear mental clutter, and create a plan that actually works for real life—not perfection.

It’s never perfect, and it rarely goes exactly as planned. But having a realistic planning system helps me get everything out of my head and onto paper. And that alone takes a surprising amount of pressure off.

Brain Dump Printable + Weekly Reset Planner for Creatives

This week in the studio was a quiet kind of full. And not in a “look at everything I made” way, but in the kind of way where ONE THING asks for your full attention, and you set down everything else and just F O C U S.

I spent most of my studio time finishing up two printable planner designs that have been living in my head [and half-finished on my iPad] for a while now. They became the kind of projects that don’t feel complicated at first, but end up asking for a hundred tiny decisions before they’re just right.

Plan With Me | Week of Apr 19 - 25

I’m so excited to finally share what’s been helping me stay organized lately!

Every Sunday, I sit down with my Weekly Creative Reset sheet and use it to get clear on what actually matters for the week ahead. Not just for life stuff, but specifically for my creative practice and my art business.

Because here’s the thing… I already had systems for everything else. The family calendar. Appointments. All the moving pieces of daily life.

But my creative work? That was living in my head.

Plan With Me | Week of Apr 6 - 12

Here’s what this week is looking like in my planner. ✨

I’ve been leaning into a mix of creative work and everyday routines. Finishing up my printable designs, sketching new pieces, and continuing my little experiment with repeating patterns (this time with my violet + clover idea).

A lot of this is happening in small pockets of time—especially the car pickup line—so this week is less about doing everything and more about gently moving things forward.

Plan with me… but make it realistic. ✨

This is what my planners actually look like most weeks:

  • a to-do list that is most likely far too long

  • a few anchored plans

  • and plenty of space for life to do its thing…

I used to think planning had to be super structured to work, but honestly, this kind of flexible layout is what I come back to again and again.

Also currently: collecting Easter menu ideas from magazine pages like it’s 2003 and I refuse to apologize for it!

How I Make Analog Repeat Patterns with Paper Collage | What's On My Palette: Mar 15–21

Last week’s studio time started the way a lot of good things do for me lately… with a spark I didn’t overthink. ✨

I fell down a bit of a rabbit hole watching repeat pattern videos (as you do), and before I could talk myself out of it, I decided to just try it. I wanted to see if it was doable with paper collage since every one I’d seen was hand-drawn or painted.

I had no plan, no prep, just pulling from my (dwindling) painted paper stash and seeing what happened.

And if I’m honest… I don’t really love how it turned out…

Last week was Spring Break, and it was so fun having the kids home from school. There were many adventures and outings, and plenty of cozy home time, too!

By Friday, though, this magic-making mama was deffo heading into burnout zone, so we chilled out for the weekend, and after a much needed reset, I’m ready for a new week and a new set of goals for this season.

Not without some much deserved me time first, seeing as how it is my birthday week…. :)

Plan With Me | Week of Mar 15 - 21

I hope y’all had a nice weekend! We had such a sweet Spring Break, but honestly… I am so ready for a reset.

By Friday, I hit that point where I had nothing left to give creatively—and I’ve learned the hard way that when that happens, pushing through just makes the art block worse.

So instead of forcing it, I’m doing things a little differently.

For a recovery week, I’m honestly pretty pleased with how much creative time I still had the energy for. I even managed to make my Spring heART journal before the season slipped away — which is rare for me.

Scrapbooks and junk journals tend to do that… I let the moment pass and then suddenly feel the pressure to “catch up.” And if you’re a sentimental memory collector like me, you already know that catch-up never actually happens.

This week, though, rest was the priority.

This week marks the beginning of an entirely new family schedule for us as we close out a seven-year chapter of life as a second-shift household. At first, I felt completely frozen at the thought of all the rituals and routines I’ve carefully built over the years — the ones that help me do what I do and stay even remotely stable and regulated (hah!) — disappearing overnight…
