What’s On My Palette | Studio Log - Mar 23 - 29

Spring is definitely starting to sneak into the studio… 🌿

…and it deffo made its way into my illustration work this week! 💜

I also discovered the Oliver Jeffers x Caran d’Ache collab and immediately needed to try recreating my own version using my (slightly out-of control) colored pencil collection.

Most of my time was spent on digital work [these new planner designs are so close to being done], but my brain turns to absolute mush after too long on the tablet… so some much-needed analog art fixed me right up.

Cozy art workspace with a desk covered in hand-painted blue and yellow paper backgrounds, acrylic paint bottles in the foreground, and a computer and drawing supplies in the background.

After last week’s slim pickins through my painted paper stash…

…this week called for a fresh batch of colors!

closeup view of a pale blue, hand-painted paper with the artist's hand holding a paintbrush above it, splattering a fine spray of a lighter blue paint, adding texture.

Adding texture and making a big mess!

Just right!

Played around with making other new palettes too.

This is my version of the Oliver Jeffers x Caran d’Ache Luminance 6901 Collection and I LOVE it!

…cuz in THIS economy, buying a new palette is a luxury. Plus! I have a studio full of supplies already. 🎨

Thrifty wins this time!

Tracing is ALLOWED. Promise!

Just make sure your references are your own photos/art or free stock and you’re GOLDEN.

NOT using tools that support your process just makes things harder than they need to be. 💚

Inspired by the ocean of tiny violets in my yard this week! 💜

Thanks for reading! See you next week!

Sarah
